We invite you to the opening of MFRU-KIBLIX 2015 LIFT ME UP festival and exhibition on Wednesday , 7 October at 7 pm and AV live acts and performances at 8 pm.

Rejoined international festival platform introduces the events in KIBLA PORTAL, an old textile factory hall in Maribor spreading across 2000 m2, combining the festival’s units in one location. Thus, artists, cultural workers, explorers, scientists, educators and visitors, hungry for knowledge on scientific-technological-artistic theoretical and practical work, can get together.

This year an international platform MFRU-KIBLIX returns with an inspiring energy of 21st century in spirit of Lift me up! slogan with the basic idea of exemplary interconnection of art, science and technology in the up-to-date intermedia entity, rewarding previous successful years of festival MFRU and KIBLIX events in Maribor.

MFRU-KIBLIX 2015 festival shares the spirit of the European year of light and luminance that artistically announces overall way out of gloomy modernity – towards the light, fresh air, art. Exclusively up. Lift me up and elevate yourself!

Presentation of modern visual art, artists and authors, through transdisciplinary connection, leads to further sophistication of knowledge and regaining extra skills on professional area, integration of practical knowledge and scientific and technological research work; and last, but not least, the quality improvement of creative works.

Exhibition – 20 works, artists from Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Germany, Finland …

AV live acts and performances – three evenings: opening on Wednesday, Ladies Night on Thursday and closing on Friday (with after party in AGD Gustaf)

Accompanying program – Slovenian 3D animated film, Ars Electonica 2014 animation screenings, AR LIBRIS – responsive installation in public space and guided tour on Friday, Planetarium – Maribor Main Square from Wednesday to Friday

Lectures and presentations – educational program

Creative Workshops for all generations with mentors on Thursady and Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, for kids (and parents) on Saturday

Every installation is in its essence therefore an interactive work of art which enables visual and/or auditory experiences; it is an act of reality transformation. The daily routine of life with all of its banalities, values, pleasures, rest, develops into a unique virtual “ecosystem”.

The festival concept of MFRU-KIBLIX is to thematize relationships between society, system and technology. Thematization of technologically augmented social events and admonishing the indecency of modern art, which deliberately dropped the human compass, is the mission of MFRU-XIBLIX festival platform. Accordingly, artistic installations also happen to include an evolution of natural occurring electronic synthesizers and offer a reconsideration of the theory by which sound waves travel through lithosphere. And more. They combine a man and technology.

Once again the international festival platform introduces the events in KIBLA PORTAL in Maribor, an old textile factory hall covering 2000 m2, combining the festival’s units in one location. Thus, artists, cultural workers, explorers, scientists, educators and visitors, hungry for knowledge on scientific-technological-artistic theoretical and practical work, can get together.

The festival’s platform unites people willing to share and experience creative forms of artistic experimentation and interpretation. It includes interaction with various target audiences and appeals to the active cooperation of everyone; young and creative people, students and experts in particular. With intertwining branches of culture and science, they constructively exchange cultural models of critical reflection, activism and experimentation with scientific methods, research work and knowledge.

Presentation of contemporary visual art, artists and authors, through transdisciplinary connection, leads to further sophistication of knowledge and acquiring additional skills in the professional realm, integrating practical knowledge and scientific and technological research work; and last, but not least, improving the quality of creative works.

Ars Electronica animation screening

The Ars Electronica Animation Festival is a compilation selected from all the entries in the 2014 Prix Ars Electronica’s Computer Animation/Film/VFX category. It offers an overview of the positions and perspectives of artists worldwide, and impressively documents not only the genre’s explosive growth but also its marvelous content- and stylistic diversity.

15:00 Making stencils for LIFT ME UP

Kreator Lab / Andrej Petrovčič

Kreator:Lab is an open workshop, where visitors and members can use 3D printers, laser engravers, CNC carving machines, foil cutters and much more. With the help of our expertise, at the Kreator:Lab we can create prototypes or unique products on a short notice, while the less experienced have the chance to learn or deepen their knowledge.

The Kreator:Lab is a place of knowledge exchange, and at the same time it is conceived as a platform for education, intergenerational cooperation, creativity, and a way to support artists, creative industries and start-ups. The Kreator:Lab is an aggregator of knowledge in the field of modern digital fabrication.

17.00 Presentation of holograms

Lecture by Orest Jarh, PhD, Technical museum of Slovenia, Bistra near Vrhnika

The Technical museum of Slovenia recently enhanced their collections with four holograms, which were designed in the mid-seventies at the Iskra Center for Electro-Optics. Holograms are a special form of 3D photography, whose production requires special, laser-emitted light.

Orest Jarh, PhD, has been working at the Technical museum of Slovenia for nearly two decades, from which sixteen years as Director, and currently as head of the Electrical Engineering Department. During this period he has been actively engaged in the popularization of science, especially physics. He is the author of several popular-scientific articles, performing lectures and presentations on various popular-scientific and technical topics at the Technical museum, and collaborating at other kindred events.
