Slovenian 3D animated film

Presentation on Thursday, October 8 (12.30)

Traditional animation began already at the beginning of the 20th century, soon after the invention of the motion picture film and the first moving images. Compared to traditional forms, 3D animation is a very recent art, since the development of 3D animation is closely connected to the development of computers. In the 21st century we are witnessing a true technological revolution in this field. However, regardless of the speedy progress of computer development, the creation of 3D animations still requires persistence, patience, and commitment. But most of all, the production of 3D animation requires a lot of time. In the recent years, the production of 3D animation has expanded globally, and can now be found in commercial projects, as well as author films. Despite this fact, and despite the accessibility of computers, computer programs and other production equipment, there is only a handful of Slovenian 3D animated films out there – in fact, we can count them on two hands.

This year’s MFRU-KIBLIX 2015 festival presents a selection from the production of Slovenian 3D animated films. In a nearly sixty-minute program, we will be able to see the selected quality productions of Slovenian 3D animated films.
